The following poem was written by a Road Runners guest and visitor to the opening
SCTA Meet at El Mirage Dry Lake, May 2006:

El Mirage

its a place where people gather
where the sounds of engines roar
and all the cars begin to stage
one by one take turns to soar

all that you can see is dust
hop inside the truck to race
way down past the timing lights
where a chute has slowed the pace

great concern is the tach reading
and just to hear that engine run
always hope to beat best time
though, if not you still had fun

i met the greatest people there
on that lake bed cracked and white
there on the course of El Mirage
such a harsh and wondrous sight
