After being parked for 12 years, the 1971 Camaro (affectionalely known as “The Whale”) returned to competition at El Mirage in 2013. The #844 Camaro Classic Altered Coupe was built by former Road Runners member Charlie Miller, who passed away in 2010. The Nickname "The Whale" was coined by Charlie because it is very hard to make a whale of a car that big go that fast!” As a tribute to Charlie, the entry name has been changed to "Miller & Miller" by current owner/driver Steve Gibson. In its current C/CGALT class, the Miller & Miller Camaro is competing against a 200.465 record (held by the Cohn Jucewic Monza).  The #844 Camaro has been a steady consistent performer at El Mirage in its past, and we hope to continue that legacy well into the future.
