The following is a chronology of the world travels of ARCHERFISH and Crews from 1960 through 1968. This history of Her travels was patiently and lovingly compiled, over a six year span, from official, declassified Naval records by Ken Henry. Thank you Ken, from all your Shipmates for this chance to revist the time we spent aboard ARCHERFISH and remember where we were!

End of Phase One

Between May 5, 1960 and December 31, 1960, Archerfish steamed 44,151.6 miles, using 605,560 gallons of marine diesel fuel. We submerged 125 times and, thankfully, surfaced the same number. A total of 86.1 hours were spent submerged. The time between leaving the shipyard in May and returning to New London in December included 62 days in port and 153 days at sea.

Between January 1, 1961 and April 7, 1962, Archerfish steamed 85,083 nautical miles, using 1,227,730 gallons of marine diesel fuel. We submerged (and surfaced) 252 times. A total of 166.4 hours were spent submerged. Following departure from New London in January 1961, and prior to return to Pearl Harbor in April 1962, 176 days were spent in port and 263 days were spent at sea. Archerfish had not been at a Homeport for 375 days.
